Revelation of the Last Great Frontier

We walked out that door at the break of dawn, bags packed, anxious to begin. We would be unaware of the adventure found, the friendships forged and the memories that would be sewn into our lives. We would wander unaffected by the rain and completely unaware of days, time or towns. It was of no essence, no worry, with no desire more than to move with mountains and get lost in long forgotten forests. We would let the story unravel with the road and sang every song on the radio. Constantly getting caught up with our conversation and stockpiling quite our share of miles. We would follow in the footsteps of those so long ago just like gold rush fever.

There is something to say about complete serenity, complete seclusion and complete silence. To wander in the wild among beasts and be surrounded by vast beauty that sprawls over miles and miles. To perch graciously beneath giants, to feel so small on top of the world. To be completely helpless in the depths of nowhere. To take footsteps where few have ventured before. Drawn to the wilderness & untamed beauty, a completely different world from one coast to another. It was the summer of twilight & the midnight sun, finding all the spots that we would hide and the rainy days spent on the run.

In all our searching for freedom and adventure we stumbled upon serenity. We had time to slow down, to be somewhere and hear nothing, nobody, not a sound. To watch the midnight hours turn to dusk and dawn all in one slow motion. To watch the moon set with the sun or the violent array of stars. From being silly at the sea or filthy dirty on the Dalton we always made it memorable. Now with all my bags unpacked and reality back on the rise part of me wishes still to be chasing pavement; losing track of days and being caught up in the rain. Summer is over and that warm Alberta wind rushed in faster than either of us had expected; leaving only time left to draw it to an end. We leave behind a tale so tall, a paper trail in guest books of an adventure so spectacular. So I wanted to thank you, for dreaming that big and working as hard as you did. It was truly a once in a lifetime adventure and I am so grateful that I got to share it with you.

Love Always,

Ricki
